Couples Counseling

Who Should Attend Couples Counseling?

Anyone in a relationship if they feel there are issues in communication, something has happened that has caused an issue in the relationship, or any couple that wants to get on the same page before taking more serious steps in their relationship like moving in, having a child, getting married, etc. Usually, people wait until there is a crisis situation to seek out help, but getting counseling to ensure communication is healthy and two people are on the same page can set a strong foundation for a good future.

Is Couples Counseling covered by my insurance?

In many cases couples counseling, at least for a period of time is covered by health insurance. With couples counseling, we have to operate under a diagnosis, and in many cases, there is a diagnosis associated with the relationship. Sometimes though, there is not enough evidence for a diagnosis, and in that case then the counseling would have to be out of pocket. This is more so in cases when two people want to be on the same page within their relationship, but do not have a current crisis or incident. This all depends very much on each individual situation, so it is best to talk to the office if you have any questions about your coverage and we can explain depending on each unique situation.
