Meet Lola Benavidez, MHC-LP

Hey, I’m Lola! Working with you would be a partnership in which we explore not only the hurt you have experienced but also the strength and resilience that has brought you this far. You are the main character in your life story. Counseling should be about sharing that story and helping you move your life in whatever direction you want it to go.

Fun Fact:
I have studied astrology most of my life. If you’re interested, we can create and use your complete astrological chart in our work together. I have found this can often offer clients valuable insight into their own basic nature, and help explain their natural attraction, compatibility, or tension in relationships with people closest to them.

Lola’s Approach to working with clients:
I see an “approach” as a path, one road to take toward healing and confidence. Frankly, I feel that walking down different paths at different times can sometimes make the journey faster and more interesting for clients. So, depending on what feels right to you, we can work with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, dreamwork, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), Astropsychology, issues of gender and culture, and externalizing challenges to help you gain perspective for moving forward. Or maybe we can just talk together and see what feels right, each step of the way.

Professional Education:
Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and Wellness: New York University
Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology: New York University

Clinical Experience:
Lola came to Sprouting Roots as an NYU Graduate School intern in 2022. After finishing her master’s in counseling, she was asked to stay on as part of the clinical staff. She offers teletherapy to adolescents, adults, and couples anywhere in New York State. Prior to being at Sprouting Roots, she worked in holistic health and beauty, as a licensed esthetician and can provide informed self-care suggestions. Coming from that industry, wellness and holistic
practices rest at the heart of her approach and passion in the work. As an intern, she gained experience working with a variety of clients, ranging from teens experiencing their first year away from home to those considering major life changes as an older adult. Lola will offer her clients a judgment-free space to explore their truth and celebrate the current season of their life.

Insurance:
I am currently In Network with Cigna and Aetna health insurance. If you have another health insurance plan- reach out to us and we can call your health insurance to verify health benefits. In some cases, people have what is called Out of Network benefits- where your health insurance may reimburse you for a portion of the session fee, and in some cases reimburses completely.

The cost is $125 per session.

Regardless of coverage- the client is responsible for paying the entire session fee. Sprouting Roots Mental Health Counseling PC is not responsible for any denials on the insurance end. Even in network clients are responsible for any portion not covered under insurance. See our FAQs for more information or reach out to us with any specific questions you have.
